You Are to Give Him the Name Jesus

The names that we give to our children often occupy a great deal of thought on our part, and sometimes even a few arguments along the way. Many times a name is given because the child has a special meaning in the family. But the Hebrews who named their children meant much more by their names then we generally do today. They chose their names with the greatest of care. So it is interesting, when the time came for God to clothe his son in humanity, how would he name him? Let’s consider some reasons why the name Jesus is so important and so perfect as we enter this Christmas season.
