A Friend of the Desperate

Almost everyone has experienced times of hopelessness—a situation is beyond our control, and it seems there’s nothing we can do about it. In those times, we all want some word from the Lord. Luke 8 records two people who turned to Jesus in desperation and found healing. The two people were very different, but both were distraught, frantic and had nowhere else to turn but to Jesus. Let’s look at the story of how Jesus befriended and helped them in their time of need and learn the lessons he would have for us.
