Waiting to Go Home
Life often feels like a waiting room. We strive, build, and plan, yet deep down, we know this world is not our final destination. Our hearts long for something eternal—something perfect. The daily battles, the moments of joy, and the seasons of pain all remind us that we are living in the "in-between." We're here on earth, but our ultimate home lies in eternity with God.
The Bible often speaks of this longing. Hebrews 13:14 reminds us that we don’t have a permanent home here, but that our eyes should be fixed on “a home yet to come.” That home is a picture of heaven—a place where there will be no tears, no pain, and no disappointments (Revelation 21:4). This verse doesn’t just point to the end of the story; it gives hope for the present. It encourages us to trust that the challenges we face now are part of a temporary world, and God has prepared something far greater for us.
But what do we do while we wait? Waiting isn’t passive. It’s not a time to simply endure; it’s a time to grow, love, and serve. Just like a traveler making their way through foreign lands, we are called to live with purpose. We are to honor Christ with our choices, share His love with others, and maintain faith that He is working everything for His glory and our good (Romans 8:28).
If you’re feeling weary in the waiting, take heart. God is not distant; He walks with you even now. Every ache, every longing, and every tear reflects the truth that this isn’t all there is. Lean into His promises. Trust that He is preparing a place just for you (John 14:2-3).
When the waiting feels long, remember this is not your forever home. Keep your eyes on the eternal. Hold on to His hand, knowing that every step you take is leading you closer to Him and to the place He has prepared for you.
Blessings,
Pastor David
